This Kelly Kettle boils approximately 5 Mugs of water (1.6 ltr / 2.6 UK Pints) at a time and is traditionally used by Irish Anglers. This is the most popular water boiling method for Forest Schools and Beach schools as the base means that you can light a fire and have a hot drink, even in places where camp fires are not permitted as long as you use a wooden or stone base.
The Kelly Kettle is a highly efficient water boiling system and works in the harshest of conditions and provides the skilled user with a hot brew within a matter of minutes using whatever solid fuel is naturally occurring in the area – sticks, grass, pine cones, birch bark etc. No need to carry fuel, though your Fire Steel and Tinder Dust will ensure a swift and confident start!
Some users have described these kettles as the ‘Greatest invention of all time’ and they are great fun and an excellent piece of kit, they are running cost-free, carbon-neutral and eco-friendly.

Kelly Kettle Benefits

The large internal surface area of the chimney heats the water extremely fast so, very little fuel is required.  The fire is all safely contained within the fire-base and the chimney of the kettle itself so, a) strong wind and rain does not interfere with the fire and b) the kettle is safe to use in many areas where open fires are not suitable.  Within a matter of minutes, the water will come to a rolling boil.  It really is that simple!
